Foundation of the Covenant: Yesod of Yesod “Yesod of Yesod” is the fifth in Nishima’s Sefirot Series. The Sefirot are considered in Jewish mysticism to be channels of divinity flowing into the world. May the Couple be blessed with the sacred gifts of the Sefirah of Yesod: Covenant, Foundation, & Bonding. “Yesod of Yesod” is a deep meditation on the qualities of Yesod. The color associated with Yesod is Orange. Yesod is also connected to the rainbow and God’s Covenant with Noah. The bonding Covenant of marriage echoes this original Covenant. The Sefirot series uses abstraction and the interplay of pure, intense color to reflect and inspire the divine flow. This series was strongly inspired by the 20th Century abstract painter (and Jewish mystic) Mark Rothko.
